Summer Student Entrepreneur Programme (SSEP) Application

  • Date Format: MM slash DD slash YYYY
  • Business Plan Checklist

  • The business plan is an essential tool that allows you to develop your business idea and describe in words how and when you will develop your new business venture. Architects draw plans so that the owners of a house can get a good idea if what design they want. A contractor would not dream of building a home without these plans. A business plan is essential to your business start-up as a set of architectural plans. A well thought-out and carefully constructed business plan will help to reduce some of the risks and stress associated with starting a business.
Please use the below as a template to be completed and submitted in typed format. Please note that no handwritten submissions will be accepted.
Your business plan should contain the following items:
        • General description of the business – (Describe what type of business you will be starting. State what product and/or service would be offered, to whom and what need drives this business idea.)
        • Description of the product(s) and/or service(s) to be offered – (Go into further detail of the product and/or service to be offered. Describe the physical make-up of the product (if applicable) and its use and appeal.)
        • Overview of the current market and competition – (It is important to understand the environment in which your new business will be operating. You should research what products and/or services are currently being offered and by whom.)
        • Business location and working hours – (The location of your business can sometimes make or break your business venture. The location should be carefully thought-out and complement your product and/or service.)

      • Strengths

      • Consider your strengths from both an internal perspective, and from the point of view of your customers and people in your market.
      • Weaknesses

      • Again, consider this from an internal and external perspective: Do other people seem to perceive weaknesses that you don't see? Are your competitors doing any better than you?
      • Opportunities

      • Useful opportunities can come from such things as:
        • Changes in technology and markets on both a broad and narrow scale.
        • Changes in government policy related to your field.
        • Changes in social patterns, population profiles, lifestyle changes, and so on.
        • Local events.
        • Threats

Please submit your completed application above or alternatively you can submit a hard copy to BEDC office in an envelope marked Summer Student Entrepreneur Programme Application (SSEP).
